About
        MAYA ERICA FORESTER

My name is Maya Erica Forester, and i live in the beautiful Mid-Hudson region of New York State. It seems like I've lived a long life, and there is a lot I can say about myself. Here are the major points of interest:

Health and Food

I have been interested in alternative healthcare and holistic healing for over 30 years. Among the disciplines that have fascinated me are Ayurveda, herbalism, nutrition, and holistic paths to healing. This interest led me to earn certification as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in January, 2016.  IIN teaches the concept of biodiversity, that no one approach is correct for everyone.  I believe this is true and as a health coach I try to find the path this is correct for you, through diet, exercise, and other lifestyle choices.

I LOVE TO COOK! I especially love Asian cuisine, and have been struggling to find ways to make it healthier. I would love to cook for you, or show you how to cook (and shop) the healthy way!

I have also had the opportunity to experience working as a home health aide taking care of elderly with dementia. It's a wonderful challenge!

Energy Healing

One of the things that separates me from many others who pursue this path is my interest in shamanism and energy healing. Combined with my interest in yoga and meditation, learning about shamanism was a real eye-opener for me. Ultimately it led me to become apprenticed to don Oscar Miro-Quesada, a bonafide Peruvian shaman, with whom I have been studying for over twelve years. I have also studied with Dr. Alberto Villoldo's Four Winds Society, and a number of other shamans, both in Peru and the United States. I have been offering my services as a Shamanic Energy Healer for over six years.

Another aspect of my energy healing work is my background in Polarity Therapy, a healing modality formulated by Dr. Randolph Stone that combines Eastern and Western esoteric traditions. I have integrated Polarity Therapy into my healing practice, along with aspects of Craniosacral Therapy, Ayurveda, Sound Healing, and Aromatherapy, which have also been fields of study for me for a long time now.

Art and Design

My identity as an artist is very important to me. I studied art throughout graduate school, and have I been painting my whole life. Within the last 12 years,  I have become involved with a new art movement, known as Visionary Art. Visionary artists seek to bring back a connection to spirit in art, to create art that is about making visible the hidden connections between the seen and unseen. To me, this is a very exciting process that aims at restoring a sense of meaning to art.

I also have many years of working as a graphic  and web designer, and still offer my services to those who want a unique design that can stand out from the rest.
